I'm back from BU (Bernina University) in sunny Orlando. The new 3 Series machines will be coming soon so we'll let you know as soon as we have ours set up. These will replace the Activa's that we have now. They put some great features on these machines like the slide on tray that the 830 has and all of them have automatic buttonhole feet! They are nice and quiet and sew wonderfully. We had classes on them so I know for sure. The weather was wonderful the whole trip and I ended up on Vilano Beach and let me tell you that is a wonderful beach. You can walk for miles. Stay at the Hampton Inn and let Reggie (the older Britsh gentleman that runs their breakfast in the morning) wait on you. He was charming and wonderful and worked like no one I've seen bringing things out for everyone. People left him tips and I've never seen that at a free breakfast. It is right next to the beach and we walked every morning and evening. Anyway, if you are planning a FL beach trip, you might want to check this out. It is only minutes away from St. Augustine and there is fun for the whole family. Ladies, there is even a quilt shop called Margerite's and it's got lots of nice fabric.
While at BU I signed up for a few things. I'm happy to announce we will be an Embroidery Take Out Dealer. They made some changes so I jumped on the chance to do it. We will be able to download for you and put the designs on CD's, your USB stick or whatever else you would like. More convenience for you. So, if you don't like downloading from the web site, let us do it for you! They are changing the requirements so that you don't have to purchase a full pack either. I'll have more details as soon as we get this set up. This will enable us to further meet your needs.
The new 2010 Quilter's Travel Companion just arrived. Be sure to pick yours up when you stop by. They won't last long. You'll want to have it for your summer travels and not miss any other quilt shop along the way.
SP 1 is now on the Berina Web site for V6 users. Please go to the Bernina web site and download this service pack. Print the directions and follow them! Besides correcting glitches in the software, it will allow you to use the Block Editor part of the software that had been unavailable to those of you that had updated.
A new update for the 830 and 820 machines here. Version 30.20.16 is posted on the web. It will clean up a few issues with the machines but the best thing is it gets rid of us having to uncheck the tie off at the beginning of the stitch each time we turn the machine on. Yeah! Small issues will be taken care of and be sure to read the release notes as well. Don't forget to recalibrate your hoops after an update and probably your buttonhole foot as well.
A mastery booklet for the Cutwork Tool is now available. We will have those available for our customers and will contact you as soon as I have it.
My Label has a new free pattern, the Pullover Top. This is a cute v-neck top with raglan sleeves. I think this has lots of possibilities and looks extremely comfortable. It is made for knits only. Be sure to go to the Bernina web site and find it under downloads or at the My Label section. Please read the instructions carefully to ensure you do not have issues downloading.
We just had them make a change in Dakota Collectibles and some of them are really nice. If you hate looking at designs through a web site, you can buy the whole catalog and get it on DVD as well for a reasonable price. They always have some on sale so be sure to check them out. They have recently had a price reduction on their designs.
If you are interested in updating or purchasing V6 software, please come in and let us know. Let us show you all the tools available in this fantastic software. We do 10 classes and keep up your software education in Software Club later once a month. You can update from V4 to V6 if you haven't kept up in the game for a while. We will hand out a CD with V6 exercises at Software Club or Software Mastery Class for you to print. Update with us and attend all the software mastery classes free. There is a patch for the drivers for those of you that have purchased Windows 7 computers. We have not had the issues we had with Vista. The patch is located on the Bernina web site under downloads toward the bottom of the page.
Please start referring to the Bernina section on this web site for references for updates and patches and all kinds of good information that you might need to know. I can't put it all on this page and it won't apply to everyone. Same with My Label. We will try to put the topic of the club for the monthly meeting on those pages of the web site.
Have you seen the 830 machine??? It's huge to start with and awesome with all the special features it has such as BSR, dual feed (that means no walking foot), extremely large bobbin and no bobbin case, 12 inch neck from inside of the machine to the needle! and I can go on and on. The jumbo hoop is as wide as 2 mega hoops and has quick release latches. I told you I could go on. Seeing it is believing it. The machine is now in stock so you won't have to wait months if you are ready to buy. The 820 is available as well. This is the version basically for quilters who do not want embroidery. Special Financing is available through the end of the month.
830 Machine
12 inches is how much space you have between the needle and the base of the machine of the fantastic 830 and 820! Come see for yourself.
Our new Horn cabinets are lovely and so strong and study. You won't have any vibration with these cabinets no matter how fast you sew! We have 7 models in the shop so you can see for yourself plus they have a computer desk that is nice to match your sewing cabinet.
If you are not familiar with the Master Hooper (the best hooping aid on the market), then you need to ask us for a demonstration. It is available for the for Bernina Models 200, 730, 430, 440, 630 & 640. There is even a special one created to accommodate the new Bernina 830 and it's Jumbo Hoop.
